Joe the Plumber’s Wealth Redistrubition Plan

Last night everyone heard a lot about the problem facing Joe the Plumber.  Joe has been working a long time in order to buy his business that makes over $250,000 a year.  Joe the Plumber recently stopped Senator Obama with some legitimate concerns that with Obama as president poor Joe is going to have to pay more in taxes.  Senator Obama responded by saying its better if we, “spread the wealth around.”

Senator McCain viciously attacked this statement made by Senator Obama remarking, “”We’re going to take Joe’s money, give it to Sen. Obama, and let him spread the wealth around. I want Joe the plumber to spread the wealth around…

Something about this statement just didn’t sit right with me.  And something about this statement shouldn’t sit right with most of America if you think about it.  Senator McCain says, “ I want Joe the plumber to spread the wealth around…

What’s the problem?  Well I have spend a large portion of my life working for a small business, less then 20 employees, owned by a single person.  The owner, like Joe the Plumber, made over 250,000 per year.  Now what’s the problem with Senator McCain’s statement?

I wish every small business employee will ask themselves this question.  “When was the last time my employer came into work with a big smile on his face and said, “Hey, I got a big tax break from the people and Washington and it’s time for me to spread the wealth around – everyone is getting a raise!“  Seriously has anyone ever heard this or a similar statement uttered.

Hell no!  Why!?  Because Joe the Plumber isn’t going to spread the wealth around.  Joe the Plumber is going keep that money for himself.  Joe the Plumber is going to buy his wife something nice, or maybe a new truck for himself.  Is Joe the Plumber going to help you?  If you think yes you are saddly mistaken.  We have gone through 8 years of tax cuts for people like Joe the Plumber, people like my boss, and you know what?  Not once in these past years has my boss given me a raise simply because his tax burden was lowered.

So in response to Senator McCain I say I would rather get my money directly.  I would rather pay less in taxes then count on Joe the F-ing Plumber to give me a raise out of the goodness of his heart!

So every employee of a small business think about that before you vote this year.  It’s not politics – It’s common sense.
